Heavy rainstorms continue to hit Guangdong today and tomorrow

Torrential rain with scattered thunderstorms has being battering Guangdong since yesterday afternoon. Heavy rainstorms will continue to hit the province today and tomorrow, along with force eight gusts, thunder and lightning in some areas, according to the Guangdong Meteorological Bureau.

The local meteorological department has issued rainstorm alerts, while the provincial disaster management office has taken measures to deal with the heavy rain.

2-Day Forecast for Guangzhou

June 14th, Friday, cloudy, 24-31℃;

June 15th, Saturday, cloudy, 25-32℃.

General precaution to take during a rainstorm

Do not drive through low-lying areas;

Avoid walking or driving near any sewage outlets, pits or holes;

Guangdong has many overhead power lines, please note the following advice:

Never take shelter from rain beneath transformers or aerial wire clusters;

Avoid tall trees or billboards near power supply lines;

Exercise caution around telegraph poles and cable-stayed iron wires;

Do not wade through water if you are not sure whether there could be electric wires which have become submerged.

Guangdong is at risk of landslide and flooding, please pay extra attention to your environment and any hazards. The province has seen a lot of rain and the water content in the soil is high. Avoid low lying areas, and hiking wherever possible over the next few days and weeks.
