Holiday changes at GZ South Railway Station
Update: 2019-09-26     Source: Lifeofguangzhou.com
The Guangzhou South Railway Station is expected to see a travel rush during the upcoming National Day holiday, with an estimated average of over 710,000 passengers on a daily basis. Several measures have been adopted to strengthen security in response to the large passenger flow.

Security check

Through October 8, passengers heading for Beijing from the station are required to wait in designated waiting areas and go through second-time security check before departure. The second check is mainly aimed at preventing passengers from bringing flammable, explosive and hazardous items onto trains.

Because of this change, the railway station reminds passengers of trains G72, G80, G66, G68, G70, D922, D924, D902, D904, D910 and D928 to arrive at the station two hours in advance. Passengers traveling on other trains are advised to arrive at least one hour early.

The station also has added 12 security check channels, including 10 for one-time security checks and 2 for second checks, to assure efficient entries.

 Facilities

Through October 8, men toilets on the 1st floor of the station will be flexibly changed for women to use during rush hour. Volunteers have been assigned to guide tourists to the proper toilet rooms.

Also, 570 new signs have been posted and 1,400 logos updated at the station to offer clearer guidance. Three outdoor bicolour LED screens will broadcast information about taxi services at waiting areas.

The construction of three new parking lots - P9, P10 and P11 - is scheduled to be completed in October, which will provide 1,000 more parking spots for the public and relieve parking pressure at the station.

Indoor navigation services at the station are available on a WeChat mini program called "智慧广州南站". Passengers need to turn on bluetooth on their phones to access the service.

Transportation

To cope with the travel rush, Guangzhou Metro will extend its service time by one hour on 5 days, including September 30, October 1, 5, 6 and 7.

Adjustments of buses are listed as follows:

1. Departure time of buses Nos.288A, 301A, 303A and 309A will be changed from 6:20 a.m. to 5:40 a.m.;
