In 2014, Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport had 5.47 million passengers across the year, up 4.4% year on year. As for cargo traffic, Guangzhou port booked a total throughput of 500 million tons, increasing 5.9% year on year. Passengers and cargo traffic of the city’s highways reached 790 million person-times and 660 million tons, gaining growth of 11.12% and 11.66% year on year respectively.
Airport
Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport located at the north of Guangzhou. Baiyun has currently established business relationship with 33 airlines, launching 110 flight routes to connect Guangzhou with more than 100 cities home and abroad, obtaining nearly 30 different jet models,.
Railway
Guangzhou is the terminal of the Beijing–Guangzhou railway, a main railway route connecting China’s North and South. It connects with many other important railways, including Beijing-Shenyang, Beijing-Chengde, Beijing-Baotou, Beijing-Luzhou, Beijing-Yuanping, Shijiazhuang-Taiyuan, Shijiazhuang-Dezhou, Lianyungang-Lanzhou, Zhejiang-Jiangxi, Hunan-Guizhou, Hunan-Guangxi and Guangzhou-Kowloon.
Metro
As of the end of 2013, construction of Guangzhou Metro includes the second section of Line 6 (Changban-Xiangxue), second section of Guanghzou-Foshan (Xilang-Lijiao), first section of Line 7 (Guangzhou South Railway Station-Higher Education Mega Center South) and the experimental tram route (Wanshengwei-Canton Tower).
Guangzhou Metro connects different districts of Guangzhou with 260.5 km of tracks and daily passengers of 5.63 million. Having delivered 2.05 billion in 2013, Guangzhou Metro has launched 1.63 million trains, running 231 million km and carrying 2.5 billion person-times in 2013. It served for 37% of municipal public transportation.
Road
Guangzhou is the capital of Guangdong province. Guangzhou is an interchange of expressways connecting many cities in China. Driving from Guangzhou to any cities located in Pearl River Delta takes about one hour. Coach terminals in Guangzhou operate routes to other cities in the province.
Water transportation
Guangzhou carries huge potential of water transportation. There are daily high-speed catamaran services between Nansha Ferry Terminal and Lianhua Shan Ferry Terminal in Guangzhou and the Hong Kong China Ferry Terminal, as well as between Nansha Ferry Terminal and Macau Ferry Pier in Hong Kong. Besides, Dashatou Ferry Terminal and Xidi Ferry Terminal operate different routes for more destinations.
