GAC Group invited to 2017 Fortune Global Forum by child messengers
Update: 2017-08-11     Source: lifeofguangzhou.com

Fan Jing, one of the young messengers for the 2017 Fortune Global Forum, read and presented her letter to Zhang Qingsong, the representative of GAC Group, on August 10, inviting Zeng Qinghong, their CEO, to attend the forum, which will be held in Guangzhou in December.

GAC Group is a Guangzhou-based Fortune Global 500 company, ranking 238th on the list of global corporations. GAC Motor, a wholly owned subsidiary of GAC Group, was the manufacturer of official cars for the G20 Summit in Hangzhou last year and its product — Trumpchi GA8 — is going to serve the upcoming December event. In recent years, the company kept refreshing its sales records and has led Chinese car manufactures in the nation's SUV market. It also has started paving the way for its entry into overseas markets by setting up a research and development (R&D) center and building sales networks.

The first batch of young messengers, a total of 26, visited GAC Motor, talked with leaders and employee representatives, and took a tour around its assembly factory. These messengers included primary and middle school students, young entrepreneurs, an overseas study returnee and some enthusiastic citizens. Interesting exchanges were made on the topic of cars, such as the practicability of car sharing and the development of pilotless automobiles. Workers in the assembly factory showed the visitors how robots help with car assembly and inspections.

Visiting the GAC Motor plant gave the students and citizens an opportunity to understand how the car they drive and take every day is made and how the big company, seemingly remote from the city's residents, is actually affecting technological changes in Guangzhou and making driving easier and safer with its constant efforts to improve its products.

With the 2017 Global Fortune Forum approaching, its executive committee will recruit and send 200 messengers to visit leading companies in China and invite them to the event. The window for registration as messengers will be closed at midday on Saturday, August 12. All the messengers then will be divided into groups to visit nine leading companies in major cities such as Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hangzhou and Shanghai.

By visiting companies, the messengers are expected to promote the forum and introduce Guangzhou to outsiders. "But it's not just about inviting companies to the event," said Yue Jia from the Communist Youth League Guangzhou Committee. "We don't want citizens to think the event is all about big shots and irrelevant to them. We want citizens to get engaged, find out how the forum is related to them, and feel inclined to join the effort."
