GZ city promo debuts in La Liga
Update: 2017-09-27     Source: lifeofguangzhou.com
"Guangzhou, Flower City in Bloom," the city promo of Guangzhou, made a debut at the home stadium of RCD Espanyol in Barcelona during a La Liga game on September 24. The video was played when the Guangzhou delegation took over the flag for the World Routes, which drew its curtain in Barcelona and will be held in Guangzhou in 2018.

Guangzhou took the opportunity to showcase the city's glamour and promote the upcoming Fortune Global Forum. Warm welcome and invitation were extended to audience members in 200 countries and regions through the airing of the game.

Although Guangzhou and Barcelona are far from each other in geographical locations, the two cities are both renowned for their strengths in football. Guangzhou has two strong football clubs, Guangzhou Evergrande Taobao and Guangzhou R&F, of which Guangzhou Evergrande Taobao has won international and national reputation and respect for its unprecedented success. Barcelona also has two famous clubs, FC Barcelona and Reial Club Deportiu Espanyol de Barcelona (RCD Espanyol), which have been recognized worldwide. With the debut of its city promo in Barcelona, Guangzhou was actually paying its tribute to Barcelona and received equivalent respects, as the two cities share the same spirit of sports for being dynamic and aspiring.

The promo starts with 14 young Fortune Global Forum messengers and Chen Yansheng, president of RCD Espanyol, greeting football fans from all over the world. The kids and Chen expressed supports for the La Liga football match in Spanish and invited all audience members to visit Guangzhou in English. It was said that the September 24 game, between RCD Espanyol and Deportivo de La Coruña, was aired in nearly 200 countries and regions. Being one of the most popular football leagues in the world, La Liga is watched by more than 800 million people worldwide.

RCD Espanyol is owned by Guangdong-based Rastar Managerial Group, which holds over 99 percent of the shares and was the first Chinese company that holds a football club among top five European leagues.

A Spanish football fan said he was deeply impressed by the beautiful scenery of Guangzhou presented in the city promo. "I've never been to China, and China is a beautiful country. I look forward to a trip to Guangzhou, the charming ‘flower city' in South China," he said.

Ramón Robert, CEO of RCD Espanyol, said that Guangzhou showcased its culture and image by presenting its city promo at a La Liga game. "This also showed that Guangzhou and Barcelona are deepening exchanges with each other," he said. "Guangzhou has excellent football teams and clubs like Evergrande Taobao. We expect more communications and cooperation with Guangzhou's clubs."

Robert also hoped that more Chinese football players with potential can be explored and sent to La Liga for training. He introduced that there are currently two Chinese players trained in RCD Espanyol, and that all RCD Espanyol teams of different age groups will each have one Chinese player in the future. He also expected to organize a friendship league with Chinese clubs and contribute to the "football exchanges" between China and Spain.

"The presentation of Guangzhou's city promo in La Liga marks the first step of in-depth cooperation between Guangzhou and Spain. I look forward to more events like this in the near future," Robert added.
