"Our two countries cherish a long history of close and cordial relationship," said Mr. Krishna Bahadur Mahara, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs of Nepal, "the establishment of the Consulate General reflects the increased level of economic and commercial engagements and deepening people-to-people relations between Nepal and the Guangdong Province."

Guangdong always has a strong trade relation with Nepal. It is said that around 60% of Nepalese trade with China is conducted from the province. Based on that, Guangdong will enhance trade and economic cooperation with Nepal, said Chen Yunxian, vice governor of Guangdong Province.
