2,047 free public toilets accessible in GZ
Update: 2019-08-09     Source: lifeofguangzhou.com

2,047 free public toilets have been open to the public in Guangzhou as of the end of June, according to the Guangzhou Urban Management and Law Enforcement Bureau. The toilets are located in both government and privately run buildings.

Among them, 1,763 toilets are equipped with a bold blue icon, which looks like a "G", conspicuous enough for citizens to notice.

These OTGs (Opening Toilet of Guangzhou) are situated in most districts in Guangzhou, including 500 in Yuexiu, 324 in Tianhe, and 270 in Baiyun. People can enter into the toilet room directly during its opening hours if an OTG icon is posted.

Individuals can find the location of nearby toilets by using a WeChat mini program called "广州公厕云平台", or an app called "广州公厕". Based on a person's location, instructions of routes to an available OTG and other information will be offered, such as opening hours and equipment. People can also rate and comment on the toilets in the mini program and app.

Guangzhou government has been trying to improve people's quality of life and resolve livelihood issues. The free toilets are part of the government's effort to improve its level in public services. OTGs can help to address citizens'needs or emergencies when they are out.

About 10,000 public toilets in Guangzhou will be all registered in the program and app system by late October, officials say. In the future, more toilets in commercial plazas, supermarkets and hotels will be open to the public.
