The China-Korea (Guangzhou-Gwangju) Youth Go Exchange held in Guangzhou on August 2, strengthened the cultural ties between China and South Korea and enhanced friendship and promoted the development of civil public diplomacy between the two countries, according to event organizers

The exchange was hosted by the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Guangzhou and the Guangdong GO Association, coordinated by the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Guangzhou, the Guangdong Public Diplomacy Association, the Guangdong Provincial Sports Bureau and the Gwangju Metropolitan Government.

According to the organizer, the event was designed to promote exchanges between the younger generations of China and South Korea through the ancient game of Go. "It is (organized) to promote the exchange of sports between China and South Korea, enhance the friendship between the young people of the two countries, and expand the exchanges between the two sister cities of Guangzhou and Gwangju," said Hong Sung-wook, the Consul General of South Korea in Guangzhou.

According to Executive Vice President of the Guangdong Public Diplomacy Association Fu Lang, this competition can help promote mutual understanding and communication, and build a cultural exchange platform between China and South Korea.

Ten student players from each country were selected to participate in the competition, namely four primary school students, four junior high school students, and two high school students. The players were all amateur level 1, with Korean students from Gwangju Metropolitan City in Korea and Chinese students from Guangzhou, China.

After 10 games, the Korean students finally won the competition.
