Join us! Learn how to make traditional Cantonese dim sum!

We are inviting you and your family to join us next Saturday January 12th (2:30pm-5:00pm) at the White Swan Hotel to experience traditional Cantonese dim sum culture.

You can learn about the history behind the traditional local food at the event. In addition, you can learn the skills of making dim sum directly from the head chef of the White Swan Hotel, Tan Guanglin, so come on down and make your own Dim Sum!

Chef Tan Guanglin, the dim sum head chef at the White Swan Hotel, is one of a professional who excels at his craft. He has cooked for Comrade Deng Xiaoping, Queen Elizabeth II, Former US President George H. W. Bush and many other heads of state and politicians. Over the years of hand-crafting dim sum, Tan has been doing his best to carry forward the culinary craft and culture, in the process making himself a true master of Cantonese cuisine.

This upcoming event titled “A Bite of Guangzhou” is an activity hosted by the Guangzhou Foreign Experts Bureau to give foreign experts a way to get involved in the local life of Guangzhou. This time, GDToday is joining hands with both the Bureau and the White Swan Hotel to organise this event for our dear readers. Everyone is welcomed to join!

Cantonese cuisine is a top-ranking cuisine in the world-famous Michelin Guide, the good food bible. Cantonese food is one of the many ways the world has learned about Guangdong. The epitome of Guangzhou-style cuisine, dim sum has won the hearts of many around the world, with their delicate taste and fragrant aroma.

Opened in 1983, the White Swan Guangzhou is one of the most recognised five star luxury hotels in China and a member of the 'World Luxury Collection' from World hotels. Over the years, the hotel has received many heads of state, including Queen Elizabeth II, and is renowned for extending exceptional service to each and every guest.

The Michelin starred Restaurant Jade River is a true landmark in Guangzhou for authentic Cantonese cuisine and specialties. Savour delicately hand-crafted dim sum creations and signature Cantonese dishes that have made this unique restaurant an all-time favourite among local gourmets and patrons from afar. The river-view Hongtu Hall is also a place full of significance to overseas Chinese and local Cantonese alike, and it has witnessed countless events and banquets over the past several decades.
