The 38th Annual Bird-Awareness Week was held at Haizhu Wetland Park in Guangzhou last week, promoting wild bird protection.

March and April is an ideal time for birdwatching. Pick any nice spring day and treat yourself to the spectacle of hundreds of migratory birds that visit or reside in the province. Here are our recommendations of some intriguing places for birdwatching in Guangdong.

Top 6 spots for birdwatching in Guangzhou

● Baiyun Mountain

Ticket price: RMB 5 per person

Buses to the South Gate (Main Entrance): (Get off at Yuntai Garden) Bus No. 24, 63, 240, 245, 285, or 522.

● Liuhua Lake Park

Ticket price: Free

Take Metro Line 2 to Yuexiu Park station, Exit B2, and then transfer to Bus No. 103, 58, or 105 and get off at Panfu Road station.

● Nansha Wetland Park

Ticket price: 50 yuan per person

Take Metro Line 4 to Jiaomen station, Exit A, and then transfer to Bus No. 23 and take it to the park.

● Haizhu Wetland Park

Ticket price: 50 yuan per person

Take Metro Line 3 to Datang station, Exit B, and then transfer to one of he following bus lines: 761, 264,170,762,206 or 45 and go to Longtan Village station.

● Dasha River Wetland Park

Ticket price: Free

Take Metro Line 1 to Fangcun station, Exit D, and then transfer to Bus No. 207 and head to Guangzhou Flowers Expo Park station.

● Wanzuitou Wetland Park at Higher Education Mega Center

Ticket price: Free

Take Metro Line 4 to Higher Education Mega Center North station, Exit D, and then transfer to Bus No. 383 or Pan 202 and head to Guangdong Science Center station.
