White Paper

Since 2007, it has been customary for the Bureau of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation of Guangzhou Municipality to promote Guangzhou's business and investment climate by publishing a white paper, which elaborately introduces the current development and planning of Guangzhou's foreign trade and its key industries and business-soliciting orientation.

White Paper on Guangzhou Investment Environment 2016

Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong Province, is an important national center city, an international trade center and an integrated transport hub of China. Covering a total area of 7434.4 square kilometers, Guangzhou is home to more than 16 million permanent residents. In 2015, the GDP of Guangzhou reached RMB 1.81 trillion yuan, equivalent to that of Singapore and Hong Kong (two of the “Four Asian Dragons”). With a per capita GDP of over US$ 20,000, Guangzhou has been ranked among the high-income areas.

White Paper on Guangzhou Foreign Trade and Economy 2013

Officials from the Guangzhou Municipal Government and the Guangzhou Municipal Bureau of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation held the "New Guangzhou, New Business Opportunities – Press Conference on the Release of White Paper on Guangzhou Foreign Trade and Economy 2013 in Hong Kong on March 8. This year, Guangzhou will increase efforts to attract investment from enterprises and to seek foreign capital for the "9+6" dominant industries.

White Paper on Guangzhou Foreign Trade and Economy 2011

Tracing Guangzhou's foreign trade development and promoting its investment environment, White Paper on Guangzhou Foreign Trade and Economy 2011 continues the basic structure and style from the previous years. Separated into seven sections, the paper includes General Introduction, Development of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation, Industrial Investment Promotion, Industrial Park Construction, Regional Development, Business Environment, and Appendixes. The White Paper lists concrete investment projects in terms of the economic and social development strategies, foreign trade development status and prospect, main industrial parks, and investment environment. Meanwhile, it highlights Guangzhou's transformation after the Guangzhou Asian Games and systematically displays the "New Guangzhou, New Business Opportunities" with an emphasis on practicality and operability from the aspects of economic development, industrial layout, business environment, and various other aspects.

White Paper on Guangzhou Foreign Trade and Economy 2010

The White Paper on Guangzhou Foreign Trade and Economy 2010 consists of eight sections – Overview, Foreign Trade, Foreign Direct Investment, Foreign Economic Cooperation, Key Industries, Industrial Park Development, Regional Development, and Business Environment. The Overview section provides a comprehensive description of the results of Guangzhou's foreign trade and economy in 2009 and the focus of future endeavors. The Foreign Trade, Foreign Direct Investment and Foreign Economic Cooperation sections provide a detailed account of Guangzhou's foreign trade, foreign direct investment and foreign economic cooperation, as well as the path forward. The Key Industries section describes the key industries in Guangzhou and the direction of the city's investment promotion efforts. The Regional Development section offers a guide to major investment projects in Guangzhou's 12 districts (development zones) and county-level cities. The Business Environment section details Guangzhou's advantages in terms of transport, life, and human resources.

White Paper on Guangzhou Foreign Trade and Economy 2009

The White Paper on Guangzhou Foreign Trade and Economy 2009 contains three new sections – Service trade, Shipbuilding Industry, and Shipbuilding and Supporting Industry Bases, and incorporates a list of some of Guangzhou's key construction projects in 2009, which describes key projects relating to the city's transport and urban infrastructure, environmental protection, high-tech industry, pillar industries, fundamental industries and modern service industry, as well as potential areas for foreign investment.

White Paper on Guangzhou Foreign Trade and Economy 2008

The White Paper on Guangzhou Foreign Trade and Economy 2008 states that Guangzhou will take substantial action to strengthen cooperation with foreign countries in the modern service sector. It devotes a significant amount of space to introduce Guangzhou's showcase parks for service outsourcing, business districts for the headquarters economy, logistics parks, and industrial bases for Web gaming and animation. A detailed description is also provided for the key industries and parks of the modern service sector and the direction of investment promotion.

White Paper on Guangzhou Foreign Trade and Economy 2007

In 2007, Guangzhou released its first report on the city's foreign trade, economy, investment promotion and capital attraction to foreign investors in the form of a white paper. The report details the switch of the city's investment promotion approach from "attracting foreign capital" to "selecting foreign capital". The white paper also describes the developmental positioning of Guangzhou's 12 districts and county-level cities and their key projects for investment, and illustrates "staggered development" to attract the attention of potential investors.
